Joy of unpacking

I know the title sounds lame, but I just wanted to tell you all how much I love receiving couriers, and unpacking them. You might not know that I do lots of online shopping, the updates I get for the many sites surpasses my personal/work related stuff too. Be it the books from Flipkart, bags from Yebhi, and Big Bazaar, gifts from 99 Labels, India Today, and India Plaza, and etc. I run to the dispatch section as soon as I get a mail that I have received a parcel. Ah! the joy of unpacking. My most favorite would be Flipkart for the super discounts it provides on books and the prompt delivery, then 99labels which offers super nice stuff but the shipping takes nearly 3 weeks. I have had my share of bad experiences too, but I’m more careful now. IM says you are going to love it in US then. 😛

The week gone by

We had a crazy time here with my family the last 2 weeks. They had to suffer the heat, as we haven’t got an AC yet. And there was no power for the whole day once. Poor them. The saving grace was we at least had TV, Internet and few books and magz, so they could pass their time, and we would try to make it up by getting them burgers, pizzas, puffs, pastries, cream buns, sandwiches, sweets, chocolates, icecreams, drinks and what not on our way back from office. Needless to say I have gained weight again. 😐

Weekends were eventful though; we did lots and lots of street shopping, picked up some pretty junk jewellery on the TNagar roads, and Mom got her favorite Coimbatore Cotton saris at Nalli too. She fell in love with them, when we were shopping in Chennai last September, and never misses to buy one when she’s here. On other days, we would be busy watching ‘Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashma’ or ‘Mrs. Tendulkar’, they are super funny shows on SAB TV. Finally, all of them gladly retreated to Hyderabad last Sunday away from the scorching sun and back to their not-so-peaceful abode to spend the rest of their Summer Holidays. Awww.. How I miss my School days. If you did not know yet, ours is a big family, and two of my siblings are still in school. We often compare ourselves with the Hum Paanch team, and have a hearty laugh. 🙂

My SIL gave birth to a baby boy last week, and he’s named Ayaaz. We’ll be going there next month to check him out. Well, I’m an official Maami now. And I’m too lazy to cook since everybody left, not that I cooked then, but I hope to resume from tomorrow. Anyways there is still some lip-smacking Chicken Manchurian left in the fridge. 😛 I plan to start a new page listing the tried and tested recipes from my kitchen soon.

I have this very bad habit of reading blogs but not commenting on them. I mostly read them in my spare time here at office, and the blogger comments section is blocked, and that’s the reason I do not comment. But I’ll definitely try to comment from home atleast.

Girls, and Stuff

Girly chats are what I adore.. I just had a small chat with a friend G, and we discussed all about hair, face, traffic, food, weight, books etc. She was my roommate when she was in Chennai till last year, and we used to have so much fun. And talking of parlours, she had once heard of a very famous salon, and we decided to try that, we were like ok it might be expensive, but may be a double or triple the price we pay at most and would be good too ofcourse.. It was a cool one hour journey from where we stayed, and we roamed around in the sun and found the parlour after another 30 mins.. As soon as we entered, we saw few guys waiting for their turns, we had never been to a unisex one till then and it felt a bit weird (I know I know it’s so common now :P).. It looked more like a hospital than a salon to me, we were taken in for consultation first (??).. the lady there asked us what we wanted and gave us a detailed info on what they do.. we finally asked her the price and guess what ?!!.. It was more than 15 times what we pay generally.. My friend was so surprised, and I just said ok thanks, we’ll come by later and left immediately. We had a hearty laugh outside and had some yummy food first, did some street shopping and left for home.. And refreshed at our usual salon the next day. Bliss!!

Mornings are always busy.. Woke up at 6.45 today, and knowing that hubby has an important call every Wednesday at 8.30.. set off to prepare lunch and breakfast.. As usual, by the time I packed the boxes, it was 7.45.. rushed to get ready, and it was 8 then.. so no time for breakfast today, put the dosa batter back in fridge and had a glass of milk instead.. We work at the same office, and its nearly 12kms from our house, and it’s a highway, so not advisable to take the bike.. We try our level best to take the bus or train, but on days like these, we have to use the bike.. reached on time, and I rushed to the washroom to freshen up (The face and hair need to be set again :|)..

I saw 2 movies last weekend, ‘Patiala House’ and ‘Do dooni char’.. PH is an ok one but I enjoyed watching DDC, could so relate to it.. Then I finished reading ‘Ladies Coupe’, I expected more and it was a serious kind of book.. We also went for some shopping last Saturday.. We stay quite far from the City, and it takes hours of planning to even go to a mall..So off we went and had yummy south Indian meals to our fill, and shopped around.. And I got some lovely kurtis from Lifestyle priced at just 299 each (What a steal !!).. Sunday I decided to try my hand at Mutton Curry, and I simply love cooking though I’m not that good at it.. So hubby was left with all cleaning and washing stuff.. 😉 His family loves spicy food, and mine taste so bland to him, he adds some more chilly, and says I will cook mutton next time.. I say cool, be my guest..
